Engineered tirelessly by Tamiya’s TRF R/C designers, this 1/10 scale touring car chassis is the epitome of speed and precision. After two and a half years of intensive development, the TRF 421 emerges as the ultimate choice for hardcore racing enthusiasts.

New features
This 2-belt driven 4WD carbon fiber double-deck design is loaded with new features such as an updated drivetrain, a new lower deck shape, front and rear upper A arms, and new shorter dampers, all of which promise to translate into serious speed on the track! Other notable features include a choice between one- and two-piece upper deck layouts for different chassis flex characteristics, plus updated suspension geometry that keeps the chassis more stable.

  • The drivetrain consists of a direct clutch at the front (spool) and an oil-filled differential gear at the rear. Equally long front and rear drive belts minimize the gradient.
  • The control arms are a rigid "A" design with 7mm longer span compared to the TRF420X for stable rolling, while the upper arm mounts can be moved to adjust camber. Three shock pivot points are provided.
  • The shocks are 5.5mm shorter than the TRF420X for a lighter chassis and lower center of gravity. Mount them directly to aluminum mounts and fine tune with spacers.
  • The drivetrain features the motor position shifted 22.7 mm towards the chassis center compared to the TRF420X chassis kit and has an identical length of front and rear drive belts for stable drivability
  • Thanks to the new spur gear and drive belt arrangement, only a single nut is required to secure the spur gear, increasing maintenance efficiency.
  • The new lower deck is smaller than that of the TRF420X chassis kit to reduce ground clearance when the chassis starts to roll.
  • Two types of upper deck (one-piece and two-piece) are available. A total of five setup patterns are possible by changing the screw positions.
  • A-shaped wishbones are used for greater rigidity. (The 420X chassis kit uses I-shaped wishbones.) Longer lower link spacing limits the swing width and ensures stability when the chassis starts to sway.
  • Along with the longer lower links, the front and rear suspensions have been changed from suspension blocks to suspension balls. The wishbones, which have been lengthened by around 7 mm, limit the oscillation range and ensure stability when the chassis rolls.
  • The toe angle can be adjusted with the aid of supports. (The toe-in angle of the inner lower links is 0 degrees).
  • Three mounting damper positions (inner, middle and outer) on the front and rear lower arms are provided by two types of aluminum bushings.
  • Changing the positions of the upper arm mountings by screws allows changes to the front and rear caster angle, which is suitable for current high downforce racing. Available front caster angles: 3, 4, and 5 degrees. Available rear caster angles: -.5, -1.5 and -2.5 degrees.
  • The dampers are 5.5 mm shorter compared to the 420X chassis kit, resulting in an exceptionally low center of gravity and weight reduction, which in turn allows for a more dynamic driving experience.
  • Dedicated damper ends are used at the front and rear to ensure the same piston level.
  • New damper oil seals (item 51738) are used to maintain maximum oil flow and utilize the oil dampers efficiently.
  • While the 420X chassis kit uses carbon fiber shock struts, this chassis kit uses aluminum brackets for precise angle adjustments based on the number of spacers used.
  • The front and rear differentials are reshaped, while the front and rear use a direct clutch and an oil-filled gear differential. (The currently available hop-up option and spares can be used).
  • Double cardan shafts are used at the front and light cardan shafts at the rear. New axle shafts (item 42388) and 45mm drive shafts (item 42387) are used both front and rear to ensure an efficient drivetrain and maintenance.
  • Newly designed lightweight rear axles increase durability.
  • Precision stabilizers are mounted at a lower position than the drive shafts to allow efficient driveline maintenance. Includes 1.0 mm diameter (x1), 1.1 mm diameter (x2) and 1.2 mm diameter (x1).
  • The steering system consists of two steering levers and an Ackerman bushing as well as a new steering bridge. Three types of new spacers with different diameters allow the steering angle to be adjusted.
  • Includes sealed ball bearings from the TRF series for efficient rotation and item 22078 aluminum differential holder (0.8 mm offset, 2 pieces).
  • The newly shaped battery holder in Quick-Plate design requires no adhesive tape for attachment. The positions of the spacers and poles can be changed depending on the battery pack. Compatible with shorty packs.
  • Supplied with a carrying bag for the TRF421 chassis kit.
