The Tamiya Volvo FH16 tow truck is a realistic model based on the Volvo FH16 recovery vehicle. This kit is aimed at builders who want a functional recovery truck with lots of detail and realistic features. For this version you don’t need paint, as it comes pre-finished in a clean silver-grey.

Product description

Tamiya trucks are known for scale detail and realistic functions, and this Volvo FH16 recovery truck is no exception. It’s designed for realistic towing scenarios on a truck course, including simulating breakdown recoveries and hauling heavy combinations.

The cab is finished with a crisp grille and realistic interior detailing. The chassis uses a ladder frame construction with aluminium side rails, and power is sent from the front-mounted motor to the two rear axles via a propeller shaft. With differentials on each axle, the truck remains predictable and smooth through corners.

For driving realism, Tamiya uses a truck-style suspension with leaf springs and damping. The 3-speed transmission can be shifted from your transmitter. If you want to control additional recovery functions via radio, you can add the Actuator Set (56553). Lighting and extra functions such as sound and vibration are possible with optional parts like the MFC-03 (56523) and LED sets.
